FAQs

Personal:

Where are you from?

I was born in Los Angeles California and moved to Nashville when I was 4.

How long have you been doing nutrition?

I graduated from college and finished all my certifications in 2013.

How long have you been a Birth/Postpartum Doula?

I began my work as a doula in 2020 as I found it to be a great addition to my practice.

What are your hobbies?

I am a home-body so I typically love just hanging with my family and friends.

I also enjoy walks, being active, renovating our home, doing art/crafts, and watching youtube and netflix/hulu shows with my husband once the kids go to bed.

My educational background:

How does one become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

The Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Online program is a ten-month, instructor led, and fully online program encompassing the NTA’s foundational and bio-individual approach to functional, holistic nutrition. NTPs are equipped to support the body’s innate ability to heal by addressing the importance of nutrient-dense food, lifestyle choices, culinary wellness, client coaching, and how social and personal components influence health.

Why did you choose Nutritional Therapy over becoming a Registered Dietitian?

After I finished my bachelor’s in health science I knew I wanted to go into nutrition. I looked at many programs and felt that the principles taught by the Nutritional Therapy Association fit closely with my nutrition and wellness beliefs.

Why did you become a Restorative Wellness Practitioner?

After completing my NTC certification, I chose to take one more step in my nutrition education with Restorative Wellness Solutions. I chose this program because it offered education and the ability to test GI-MAP or CSA and food sensitivity evaluations, adrenal and hormone evaluations, and full blood chemistry panel.
RWP honors the healing priorities of the body when addressing the physical or metabolic imbalances of the body. In addition, they recognize the need to address genetic weaknesses, drainage of toxins, emotional components and negative thought patterns.

You do need specific qualifications to become a RWP. Yes, these can be found HERE.

How did you become a Postpartum Doula?

In 2020, I began my work as a postpartum doula and created a 5-week Postpartum Mentorship Program. I studied and have been mentored through a local doula company here in Nashville, Blissful Birthing. I am trained as both a postpartum and birthing doula.

What I believe:

What is your food philosophy?

I believe in nourishing our bodies intuitively through eating real whole foods.

I believe in the principles taught by Weston A Price. His “studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. Dr. Price’s research demonstrated that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.”

Why is there no nutritional information on recipes and why don’t you count calories or macros?

I believe in eating nutrient-dense food and eating intuitively which enables us to listen to our bodies and not needing to count calories or macros.

What type of diet would you recommend for the general public?

A diet full of nutrient-dense whole foods including plants, high-quality animal proteins, and good quality fats.

Do you believe in supplements?

Yes, but I believe in eating real whole foods more. Supplements are great for support, but I believe it is best to ingest our vitamins and minerals through foods than supplements whenever possible.

Do I take supplements?

Yes, my supplements vary on the season of life I am in and what I feel my body needs. I also routinely get checked for various vitamin levels during my yearly PCP appointments.
